Ghosting

Ghosting can be described as an extreme use of the silent treatment. It is a tactic used by unhealthy individuals where they suddenly disappear from your life without any form of explanation. There is no doubt that ghosting is emotional cruelty because the person being ghosted has often no idea why they have been abandoned by someone who they believed cared for them. Without any explanation as to why the relationship has come to an abrupt end, the target is left questioning themselves, trying to figure out what they did wrong, wondering what they could have done differently and their self-esteem drops to an all time low. (Chances are you did nothing wrong).

Someone who uses this strategy to end a relationship is not emotionally mature. Their behaviour says much more about them than it does about you. Forget about closure from them. Give it to yourself and move on. Leave them to deal with their own immaturity and dysfunction. You can’t fix what’s meant to stay broken. If they want to play dead, let them stay dead!
